W is crazy on the move! From the second he wakes up, he is standing up in his crib, holding on to the sides and bouncing up and down! Until nap time, his is squirming, crawling, standing, bouncing, moving, squealing, walking with his lion walker and just being a happy kid! You never would have known that he spent months in physical therapy just to get to this point! He is a trooper and nothing is going to slow him down!
If you ever end up needed physical or occupational therapy, here’s my advice:
Be patient and never let the crying stop you.
No matter how hard they make them work or how upset they seem to be, it’s worth every tear. We spent many sessions fighting W to do what seemed like an easy task, but to him it was extremely difficult. Without this early intervention, W may have ended up behind in his development. It’s hard for them. It’s hard for you. In the end, you’ll see how worth it every session is to their development!
Without a doubt, my biggest encouragement for anyone in the NICU with a preemie is to get whatever early intervention you can get your hands on. It was a godsend to us and W.

Our PT working with W:
Graduated from Physical Therapy!
Because of early intervention we went from this:
W had a hard time using his arms, reaching, rolling over, sitting up on his own and a host of other things that used his core and upper body. Because of all the time he spent laying flat in the incubator, he struggled to overcome these hurdles. Our physical therapist work tirelessly with us to help W succeed and be able to use his core and arm strength. Through all of the tears and hour-long sessions, W is exactly where he should be for his developmental age!
If you need help, PLEASE get it. It’s so important and you won’t regret one single moment of the help physical therapy provides for you and your baby!
